"I purchased a Visa Vanilla gift card for my daughter as a Christmas gift to be used on manicures for the two of us. When we went to pay, the owner claimed that she had never used one of these cards. I found it hard to believe because they are very common. She ran the card and said that it didn't work. I believed her and paid in cash. She did not offer a receipt, threw the cash in a drawer, and had no cash register. That should have been an indicator that her bookkeeping was not great. When we got in the car, I had my daughter call the gift card to check the balance. It was $0. The card had, in fact, worked. I just paid an additional $50 for our manicures. I went back immediately, and the owner was insistent that it hadn't worked. She refused any resolution and said that she would check with her bank on Monday since it was a Saturday and the bank was closed. I checked the balance of the card online the following day, and it showed that the full $50 had been used at Pretty Nails in Mukwonago. When I called on Monday, the owner was still insistent that she had not gotten the money and refused any resolution. I brought her a print out of the information from online, and she would not even look at it. I am disputing the purchase with Visa, but I will never return to this business, nor do I recommend them. I don't trust their practices."
